For self-directed investors

Market news that knows what you own

Riverkeep is an app we're building. It's designed to give you a short brief each morning on the stories that concern your stocks and funds, plus anything connected to the notes you've saved. It comes with a notebook for those notes and an assistant for when a story leaves you with a question.

Early access is coming soon.

Your holdings

Start with what you own

Tell Riverkeep which stocks and funds you hold. Include the small positions too, since those count.

Your brief starts from this list. Change it whenever you buy or sell.

Every morning

A short brief, and every card says why

Stories make the cut when they involve a stock or fund you hold, or a topic from one of your notes. The rest stays out, including the fourth think piece this week about what one famous investor might be buying.

Each card has a one-line explanation, like "You own NVDA and SMH, and both tend to move with this group." Tap a card when you want the details. If an explanation doesn't make sense to you, tell us. It helps us write clearer ones.

Say 216 stories come out on a Tuesday morning and 4 of them match the holdings and notes in this example. Those 4 are the brief.

Notebook

Jot it down, and your brief will look out for it

Got a half-formed take on homebuilders, or a few numbers you want to check again next month? Put it in a note. It doesn't need to be tidy.

Notes count toward your brief the same way holdings do. If you've noted that you're watching mortgage rates, a story about mortgage rates can show up even when it doesn't name anything you own.

When a note turns into a wall of text, Riverkeep can clean it up into a few short points. Nothing changes unless you tap "Use this."

Ask

When a headline raises more questions than it answers

Some stories need more than a card. Ask what a term means or why a whole group of stocks moved at once, and you get a plain answer and a couple of suggestions for what to read next.

Start from any card in your brief, or open the Ask tab and type whatever's on your mind.

On your phone

Sized for a few spare minutes

We're designing Riverkeep for the short gaps in a normal day, like the stretch before your first meeting or the line at the pharmacy. The brief is meant to be read in one sitting, and a notification lets you know it's ready.

Later in the day, if a new story involves one of your notes, it's added to your brief and you get a heads-up. You can switch those off and stick to the morning.

Who it's for

Do you pick your own investments?

Riverkeep is for people who choose their own stocks and funds and would like to follow the news about them more closely.

You don't need to be an expert. The assistant explains jargon when it shows up, and nobody is grading you.

Your data

Your data, in plain view

Your holdings and notes are what the app works from. They shape your brief, feed the note clean-up, and give the assistant some context. The settings screen is designed to show what's stored and give you a way to clear it.

Want to try it early?

Riverkeep isn't open yet. If you'd like to hear about early access, send us a short email. If you feel like telling us what you invest in and what annoys you about market news, we'd enjoy reading it.

How it works

Setup should take a few minutes. After that, it's mostly reading.

Riverkeep is in development. This is how it's designed to work.

1

Tell Riverkeep what you own

Add the stocks and funds you hold. The list doesn't have to be complete on day one, and you can change it whenever you buy or sell something.

2

Add a few notes, if you like

A note can be about a company you own, one you're only curious about, or something bigger like mortgage rates. Write it the way you'd say it out loud. When a note gets long and messy, Riverkeep can clean it up into short points, and your version stays in place unless you choose the new one.

3

Read your brief in the morning

Your brief is designed to arrive each morning with the stories that involve your holdings or your notes. Every card has a line on why it's there, and the whole thing takes a few minutes to read.

4

Ask when you want more

Tap a card for the gist and a link to the full story. If you still have questions, ask the assistant. It explains things in plain English and suggests what to read next.

5

Get a heads-up later in the day

Your notes keep working after the morning. When something new comes up that touches one of them, Riverkeep adds it to the brief and lets you know, unless you've turned those alerts off.

About Riverkeep

Riverkeep is a software company building an app for self-directed investors: a short brief each morning on the market news that involves what they own and what they've noted, with a notebook and an assistant alongside.

Where things stand

Riverkeep is in development. We're designing and building the app now, and the screens on this site come from an early design, so expect them to change. There are no users yet.

What we're designing for

  • A brief short enough to finish over a coffee.
  • A plain line next to every story saying why it's there.
  • Notes that can stay as messy as you wrote them.
  • Settings that show what the app holds about you.

FAQ

Questions and answers

What is Riverkeep?

An app we're building that gives you a short daily brief of market news about the investments you own and the things you've noted. It also has a notebook for those notes and an assistant you can ask when a story leaves you with questions.

Who is it for?

People who choose their own investments, whether that's three index funds or thirty individual stocks. If you've ever scrolled through a market news app wondering how much of it applied to you, you're who we have in mind.

How is this different from other finance news apps?

Riverkeep starts from your holdings and your notes, tells you why each story is there, and leaves out the rest, so two people opening it on the same morning will usually see different briefs.

Will Riverkeep tell me what to buy or sell?

No. Riverkeep is designed to explain the news about what you hold, not to make recommendations. Buying and selling stays your call.

How long is the brief?

It depends on the day. On a busy morning you might see six stories. On a slow one you might see a single story, followed by a line telling you that's all for this morning.

What if I don't own any investments yet?

You can still write notes about companies or topics you're curious about, and your brief will pick up news related to them. It gets more useful once you add a few holdings.

Which markets and investments will it cover?

We're starting with widely held stocks and funds. If you own something less common, tell us. It helps us decide what to add next.

Does it connect to my brokerage account?

Not at the moment. You add your holdings yourself and can change them whenever you like.

Does it use AI, and can it get things wrong?

Yes to both. The assistant, the story summaries, and the note clean-up use AI, and any of them can get things wrong, so check anything important before you act on it.

What happens to my holdings and notes?

They're what the app works from to build your brief, clean up your notes, and answer your questions. This website's privacy policy doesn't cover the app.

How much will it cost?

Pricing hasn't been decided yet.

When can I start using it?

Early access is coming soon. Email info@riverkeep.tech if you'd like to hear about it.
